Giveaway and Author Interview: Letting Go

Welcome to Writing for Christ Michelle Sutton, it is great to have you here! Do you have an interesting fact about yourself the average reader probably doesn’t know?
I usually tell people my mother was a nun. That usually makes people blink several times before they respond.

Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?

My favorite to read is historical fiction. My favorite to write is anything romantic with a lot of drama. Women's fiction with strong romantic themes probably describes it best.

Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely changed how you view writing?

Sol Stein wrote in his book Stein on Writing…. "Give your readers the envelope and then let them fill it." It's not an exact quote, but you get the gist of it. I think that was when the light bulb went off for me in my head and I learned how to show vs. tell.

What do you enjoy most about being a published author?

Getting random emails from fans who found my book at the library or someplace else and who took the time to look me up online and write to me telling me why they enjoyed the book (whichever one they'd read) so much. I recently had a teen write me and ask me about whether or not more YA books were coming. She said It's Not About Me and It's Not About Him were two of her favorite books. She kept signing her emails with, your fan, Bryce! (just like that.) It was sweet and we started talking about books. Now she writes me about once every few days to ask my opinion about books and what to read. She's 13.
