Guest Review: The Keeper by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Written and shared with you by mom. :-))
“The Keeper” was a novel filled with several unexpected twists—and more than one that left me completely surprised.
The pages of the story flew quickly as I read, each engaging and entertaining in the whole book. I quickly grew to admire Julia and her tenacity in life and through the struggles it had given her. Her ability to voice her own opinions was something I admired about her character.
The story is an easy romance in how it read, but certainly was not free of its complications. Julia’s father’s search for a heart, guilt and lost love riddled the pages with intrigue. I did not feel bored as I read the story.
Several plot twists took me by surprise. I’m usually a reader who can see around a story’s curve, but this one certainly knew how to hide the surprise until it happened and I never felt cheated in how those surprises occurred.
Beginning to end, the novel was delightful, an easy read and an enjoyable one. I look forward to the next story and hope it includes more of these engaging characters.
This review is my opinion. Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review.

Julia Lapp has planned on marrying Paul Fisher since she was a girl. Now twenty-one, she looks forward to their wedding with giddy anticipation. When Paul tells her he wants to postpone the wedding—again—she knows who is to blame. Perpetual bachelor and spreader of cold feet, Roman Troyer, the Bee Man.

Roamin' Roman travels through the Amish communities of Ohio and Pennsylvania with his hives full of bees, renting them out to farmers in need of pollinators. He relishes his nomadic life, which keeps him from thinking about all he has lost. He especially enjoys bringing his bees to Stoney Ridge each year. But with Julia on a mission to punish him for inspiring Paul's cold feet, the Lapp farm is looking decidedly less pleasant.

Can Julia secure the future she's always dreamed of? Or does God have something else in mind?

Full of the plot twists and surprises her fans love, The Keeper is the first in a new series by bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher. Through touching family relationships and trials of the heart, Fisher's vivid characters grapple with yielding to God's will when it doesn't match their own.

  1. Great review! I met Suzanne Woods Fisher while standing in the Starbucks line at the ACFW conference back in September. She was sooo kind and engaging! I love that this story includes bee-keeping! (But that's partially 'cause my name means "honey bee" so I rather like things having to do with bees and honey. :) ) Thanks for the review!

  2. That is neat, Melissa! Amazing the people you'll meet in Starbucks...or the bathroom. Not my preferred mode of meeting. ;-)
