I’ve spent most of the last decade practicing surgery in East Africa. I’ve treated people injured by hippo, elephant, lion, and cobra!
Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?
I write contemporary medical drama with a dash of romantic suspense.
Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely changed how you view writing?
A writer friend once told me, “Don’t get it right; get it written.” It’s good advice for powering through the first draft and not getting too caught up in revision as you go along. Pages pile up and psychologically, even if you have to revise later, it’s a good feeling.
5 things you love?
I love Kenyan coffee, my wife, watching my sons (young men) make great decisions, worship music, and cheese (not in that order!).
What novel have you recently read that has stood out to you that both teens and adults will find enjoyment in?
I was intrigued and challenged by Jim Rubart’s novel, “Soul’s Gate.”
