Dipping a Toe in the Vlogging Waters

I said I would never do this.

Keli Gwyn said I should.

So I dug out the manual on the video thingy on my computer.

Not really, I don't read manuals.

Took a deep breath and hit record.

Tried to not run screaming from the room.

Finally decided on a video that would be a good Friday post.

Registered a YouTube account.

Tried to not run screaming from the room at the thought of being on YouTube.

I'm sensing a pattern here.

And finally gave you this:

Not really loving the whole automated freeze frame thing.

YouTube just does that to be mean, I swear.

Love it?

Hate it?

I kind of liked it, the question is...will you??

Leave a question/comment, it just might become a vlog post!

Scary.

Take this as a warning: you've been warned.

;-)

Friday's Note:

I have winners! The winner of Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar is:

Wendy!

And the winner of Lost in Dreams by Roger Bruner is:

Melanie!

Congrats, be stalking your inbox. ;-)

  2. Oh Renee!! ROFLOL!!

Oh my goodness, you have me laughing!! And isn't my voice HIGH though? At least it wasn't as icky on recording as doing Julie Lessman's class at ACFW. :-/

  3. High voice!? Nope, nope, nope. Nothing to be worried about, m'dear : ) Though who am I kiddign? Did you see Alicia and my vlogs from vacation? I have a looooooow voice lol. And it's only accentuated on a phone/answering machine/video blech. Hate that. But it's my voice nonetheless, don't pick on it. It's part of you and we love you right? So don't worry, we love your voice as well!

I agree with Renee, it was very cool to see this! It's actually given me an idea for a post so thanks for that! I've been running dry on post ideas for this blogfest lol a whole month of blogging on ONE thing can get difficult! I just don't want it to get boring for everyone else.

Anyway, this was cool, you're cool, everything's cool! Go with it, it works for you, home fries ; )

  5. Wow! Wow! Triple WOW!!! Casey, I'm thrilled to see you venture into vlogging. I know you were hestitant, but you did an AWESOME job. You have a great voice for it, a smile as warm and inviting as bread fresh from the oven, and a wonderful personality that shines through beautifully. Kudos on your bravery and on taking the time to figure out the technical stuff. I look forward to future vlog posts and will have to think up some questions for you so you have good reason to prepare some more of them.

  6. Awww, this is so fun, Casey! :) I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet you in person and hear your voice even before this vlog post. ;) I agree with Keli - you have a great voice for this sort of thing! Very warm and welcoming. :)

    Great job!

  7. My first thought was the same as Renee's! Aren't you just the cutest thing?! Your SONshine is shining bright, fair lady!!!

Yes, you can tell us about how your family raises food- I personally think it's fascinating to learn these things since we live on a small mini-farm (when we are working it ;))

Do you plan to home educate your own children one day?

Keep up the vlogging! You have a great voice!

  8. Hey Casey, this is cool. Nice to put a face and voice and personality to the name. Can I say I have technically met you then?

The farming thing sounds interesting. Would love to hear more of that. Also, here's a question for you? What was the best and the worst part of home schooling?

  9. You're so brave, Casey! I enjoyed your vlog! Great job!

(P.S. - I was also homeschooled. I love that we have that in common. :-)

  13. You are one brave lady, Casey! Haha, I don't think I could convince myself to get in front of the camera. Goodness, I don't even like video chatting or skyping with my bro because of that camera! :-P

But, my fear of video camera's aside, it was neat to see you and hear you. You have such a sweet voice! :-D

You pulled it off wonderfully well. I will be looking forward to more vlogs in the future, and know they will be fun to watch!

  14. Casey, you are lovely! Wonderful vlog, wonderful voice! Your sweet spirit shines through!

  15. HANNAH, isn't that the way all voices are? We can NEVER like ourselves on recording. ;-) Thanks sweetie!

KARA, thank you! :) The way I could vlog is to be myself. We'll see what comes of any others! And yes, the days off were a great break to get some writing in. :)

KELI, you were the reason (that and the nudge from several others) to give it a shot. From the overwhelmning response here, I'm glad I did. Thank you, Keli. :) I look forward to those questions! ;-)

AMBER, you should do one too!! Or better yet, do one the next time we get together!!! Are you home now?

  16. RENEE, :-)

ANNE, I'll have to do that! I mentioned it to my dad this morning and he was all over it. I'll have to think up a good topic and do it some time. :-) I love His SONshine too--thank you!!

JODI, LOL! I think you probably could. ;-) Ooo, LOVE that question. I'll be thinking up a good answer. :)

GWENDOLYN, I know, right? I love that too! Always great to meet other homeschoolers. Wouldn't have had it any other way. :)

  17. KARENK, you all have been too kind! I'm so glad you have enjoyed it. :)

JULIE, it was actually easier than I thought, I would just love now how to add slides. Not sure how to do that.

MICHELLE, You're sweet! I'd love to hear YOUR voice too!!! You should have seen my previous attempts. *cringe*

KATIE, Skyping is HORRIBLE! I really dislike doing that. This was more real time as far as my movements to the computer's movements. Thanks for the vote of confidence. :)

CYNTHIA, and you've met me so there is no deceiving you. ;-) Thank you, kind lady!

SO GLAD everyone seems to be enjoying my first vlog post. You all have been so encouraging, thank you!!

  23. You are so adorable, I can hardly stand it! And your voice is sweet!

I admire you for jumping into the vlogging thing. I'm way too chicken at the moment to brave those waters.

  24. Casey, You have a beautiful smile:) And you seem so natural on camera!! I've seen Keli vlog and it's been great so I'm glad you're joining in. Makes me want to test the waters though I don't have a clue how I'd go about it. Maybe you give lessons;) Anyway, I think this is GREAT and so much personal. Almost as nice as being with you in person!!

  25. Oh man, you are so cute!!

  27. MARY, and now it seems I must do MORE! It was fun though. :)

ERICA, lolol! You don't want to see me right now with bed head then. Not pretty. ;-)

LAURA, it was actually pretty painless. I would really like to do slides like Keli and Katie do, but don't know if I have that capability. I'll play around with it. ;-)

    PEP, I ♥ you!

JOY, LOL, thank you. :D You're turn lady!!
