Welcome to Writing for Christ Ronie Kendig, it is great to have you here!
Do you have an interesting fact about yourself the average reader probably
doesn’t know?
As an Army brat, I
attended four schools by the time I hit fifth grade and lived in two countries
and two states by age 9.
Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?
For the most part, I read
thrillers or science fiction/fantasy, but I’ve been known to venture into an
historical on occasion. Mostly, I write in the thriller/suspense genre and
speculative.
Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely
changed how you view writing?
It’s going to sound cliché, but
“Audience of One.” When I finally got a solid grip on that in terms of WHY and
WHO I am writing for, there was such freedom, it enabled me to write despite
discouragement and disappointments. The biggest thing is that the result of
what happens after you write is not in your hands. It’s in God’s. Your
“obligation” to Him is simply using the gift He gave you—writing. If you’re
doing that, then you have already pleased Him!
5 things you love?
(I’m assuming you mean
outside God, my husband, and children. . .) Elephants, tiramisu, pastries
(especially cake donuts, cinnamon rolls. . .), Ireland (my mom’s home), and
lavender (plants, candles, lotion—anything with that scent).
What do you enjoy most about being a published author?
Getting to share Christ’s
love, and through that, impacting lives. There is nothing as beautiful or as
significant as that.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the great interview, Casey! Ronie, I had to idea you were an Army brat. That explains why you love to write what you write - fast paced! I love when you said, "When I finally got a solid grip on that in terms of WHY and WHO I am writing for, there was such freedom, it enabled me to write despite discouragement and disappointments." True, my Friend, very true. Congratulations on Firethorn!

P.S. Is the "o" in Ronie's name a long o, or a short o? In my head, I say it with a long o, so I just want to make sure I'm saying it right. ;-)

ReplyDeleteYou are all so fantastic and encouraging. Thank you so much for being excited about this, and for those who have already read the books, THANK YOU!!
ReplyDeleteFinding that freedom of knowing you've already done and are doing what God has already asked of you--TO WRITE--is incredibly...well, freeing! The rest is up to Him, so let Him take care of it. He's more than capable, as we all know.
Michelle - it's short, actually. It's shortened from VeRONIca. Ronie like Ronnie. LOL
