That I love to bake and cook. If I wasn't an author, I'd likely be a chef or a pastry chef. Someday, I hope to own a French Tea House.
Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?
I've been writing novels and nonfiction books full time for 17 years - it's easy for me to keep track of that because I began when my youngest child was a baby. Before that, I was an acquisitions editor for a textbook publisher. I've been in publishing for more than twenty years.
It is a bit of a departure for me to write historical novels, but a natural step for me. When I read for pleasure, I choose historical books 8 times out of 10. So it's a delight for me to write where I read, and I've always wanted to write historical fiction. It's a dream come true for me to finally be able to do so!
Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely changed how you view writing?
When I first started writing, I was told to "Write for yourself." But no, that would be writing a diary! I've since learned that when you write to publish you write for readers. If you write about something that both of you are interested in, though, jackpot!
What do you enjoy most about being a published author?
I love the ability to create a world and disappear into it. I adore that feeling as a reader, and it brings me great pleasure to think that I might provide that kind of happy enjoyment for other readers.
Places for readers to learn more about you?
Please visit me online at my website; you can also link to me on Facebook and Twitter from there. I hope your readers will also sign up for my e-postcards (where I am also giving away two Kindles) so I can keep in touch! If you’d like to visit some of the castles and palaces “virtually,” please visit the "Castles and Palaces" page on my website where there are lots of wonderful photos.
Thank you for being with us today!
Thanks for having me!

ReplyDeleteCasey,
Loved your interview with Sandra! :o) She is such a sweetheart, and her newest book is exquisite. A midnight oil burner, for sure. :o)
I loved her tidbit about wanting to have her own pastry shop. I guess she lived vicariously through Lexi (from her French Twist series) and her pastry career. :o) Fun!
I have seen this all over the blog world and it has caught my eye! Would love to read it.

I read Sandra's book "Let Them Eat Cake" and enjoyed it very much. It would be interesting to read "To Die For" since it is historical fiction (the other was contemporary). Please enter me in the book giveaway.
