Giveaway! Though My Heart is Torn by Joanne Bischof!

Welcome back to Writing for Christ, I am excited to have you here for a second time. J

Casey, thank you so much for having me back!

What has changed in your writing life since you were last here?

It seems like so much has changed. It hit me a while back that in the course of a year, I will have gone to being the published author of zero books, to the published author of three. It’s been a whirlwind of a year! But I’ve loved every minute of it and it’s been such a joy to get to meet new friends and readers. This is the best community.

What recent read stood out to you as truly spectacular?

Recently I read Wedded to War by Jocelyn Green. It was a phenomenal read. She took the reader places that were so real and so emotional. It was an incredible look into Civil War life. I can’t wait for her next book.

Do you have favorite authors?

I do! So many that I better not list them all and I love having so many of my favorite authors as friends. One book I read recently for the first time was Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
. I adored her way of writing and it instantly became one of my favorites.

What do you find the most enjoyable part of writing or connecting with readers?

It never ceases to amaze me how as a writer, we can create this story and a set of characters all with the realization that it may never go beyond our own scribblings. Then to hear from readers what the Cadence of Grace series has meant to them, how it touched their heart, is so incredible. It’s such a blessing.

What do you find the most ideal atmosphere for writing? Do you ever get those surroundings?

Oh, there are some days I wish it were possible! With 3 little kids at home, it is very hard to find time to write, but I’ve learned to adapt my ideal and now, I’m happy with a cup of tea and my couch while everyone is down for their naps. I turn on my favorite writing music and it’s my special time out of the day.

Okay, something fun for those writers out there: In what point of your writing career did you surprise yourself by writing the most words ever in the shortest amount of time?

Great question. I remember writing as many words as I could fairly easily in the days when I had lots of time on my hands. Now, with edits often on my desk, I’ve found that as long as I keep my family a priority and focus on being a mom, and then a writer, the words surprise me by flowing in the smallest amounts of time. It’s by the grace of God that I get my writing done and I am so thankful for how He steps in and helps me along when I’m certain I just don’t have the words. I know it’s never by my own strength or know-how.

Thanks for being here again! It has been a joy and we wish the very best with your novels.

Thank you for having me! This is such a treat!

Joanne said she recently read Wedded to War. I agree that this is a phenomenal book. I loaned it to a friend. She said it was the best book she's ever read. That's saying a lot since she reads widely and abundantly.
