Giveaway and Author Interview: Out of Control

Welcome back to Writing for Christ Mary Connealy, I am excited to have you here for a second time. :-) What has changed in your writing life since you were last here?

The coolest thing is I’ve got a new book releasing from a new publisher. Out of Control releases AUGUST FIRST!!!! IT’S OUT!!! I’m so excited about it. I had waaaay too much fun writing this book.

I have to mention the second coolest thing, too Casey. I went to New York City this summer for the Romance Writer’s of America conference. It was terrifying and excited…kinda like the cave in Out of Control. I went because I was nominated for a Rita Award. I lost, but I had a wonderful time.

What recent read stood out to you as truly spectacular?

Right this second I am reading Pam Hillman’s new release Stealing Jake. It’s an ebook, this is a new line from Tyndall Publishing and it’s great. In fact, you’re lucky I put it down long enough to answer your interview questions, because I’m dying to see what happens next.

Do you have favorite authors?

Well, I love my Seeker Sisters. I won’t name them all but you can find them at http://seekerville.blogspot.com/

What do you find the most enjoyable part of writing or connecting with readers?

I love writing. I love everything about it. The first creation, the revisions, the editorial input, the covers the feel of the book in my hand when it comes. And I love hearing from my readers, too. The best marketing is on-line because (duh) it’s all WRITING. Face to face is scarier but the people I meet and talk to are great. It’s just outside my comfort zone. But I’m trying to grow up. Be brave. I’ll let you know if that ever happens.

What do you find the most ideal atmosphere for writing? Do you ever get those surroundings? :-)

I’m a very low maintenance writer. Not much bothers me. Interruptions…I deal with them and go back to writing. I don’t need a certain kind of music or absolute silence or my favorite cup of tea. Just me and the keyboard.

Okay, something fun for those writers out there: In what point of your writing career did you surprise yourself by writing the most words ever in the shortest amount of time?

I know this actually. I was trapped in a room with NO INTERNET and NO DISTRACTIONS. I wrote 6000 words in one day. Can you imagine if I did that EVERY DAY. That’s a 90,000 word book in (pardon me while I crack out the computer’s calculator, math---not my thing. That’s a 90,000 word book every FIFTEEN DAYS!!!!! What would I even do with all those books?

I also have you linked on my blog. (not a check, but should be! Ha!)

I'm also going to rate your reviews. Want to return the favor?

Mary - absolutely love your sense of humor and your books. I like that you don't need anything but you and the keyboard to write. Very cool. You create your own environment in your head.
I'm learning to write too and that is what I have found. It's so fun just to create!!

  26. Hi everyone. I'm sorry I didn't stop in earlier to talk with you. I thought I did. But I'm on vacation and I'm really busy overeating and napping so things are slipping through the cracks.
