Do you have an interesting fact about yourself the average reader probably
doesn’t know?
I love to play tennis! I play indoors in the cold of winter and the
heat of summer. In the fall and spring,
you can find me outdoors competing in women's doubles.
Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?
Romance.
When I was a teenager, I
discovered romantic novels and they've been my absolute favorite cup of tea
ever since. I write contemporary romance
because it suits my humorous and modern author'

My fondness for romance doesn't
begin and end with books. I'm also a fan
of romantic movies, mini-series, quotes, photographs, weddings, and anything
else to do with love.
Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely changed how
you view writing?
Give yourself the freedom to try
out different genres and time periods!
So many of us come to writing thinking we know what kind of book God's
calling us to write. I thought I was
meant to write historical romances, but I was wrong. If I hadn't given myself permission to try a
few chapters in a different genre, I wouldn't have discovered my true niche.

What novel have you recently read that has stood out to you that both
teens and adults will find enjoyment in?
I'm just now finishing Shattered by my friend Dani
Pettrey. I've had such fun following
along with the main characters as they traveled across Alaska and British
Columbia uncovering a trail of clues and solving the mystery.

ReplyDeleteGreat interview, and I absolutely LOVED Undeniably Yours -- one of the BEST books I have read in the CBA, both it and My Stubborn Heart.
Got cold chills, though, when I read about Becky thinking her genre was historical romance then BOOM -- she writes contemp and finds her niche. The reason that resonated with me so is that after my month-long sabbatical to seek God about a direction for my writing, I have come to a similar conclusion in that I think the next book I write just may well be a contemporary I started five years ago before I got published. While praying, I got the strongest urge to finish it, so we shall see. :)

Hello to my wonderful author friend, Julie Lessman! Wow, Julie. A sabbatical to seek God's direction for our writing sounds like something every author should take the time to do. In my own life there have been times when I've thought/assumed I knew what He had in store and yet, no. I didn't. I thought I was finished writing forever when my oldest child was born. Nope. I thought it would be easy for me to have the 3rd child I believed God intended for our family. Nope. When I tentatively ventured back into writing, I thought God wanted me to write an historical inspirational. No. :))) And I could go on and on. I'm excited to hear, Julie, that the Lord might be calling you to complete your contemporary!

Casey & Becky, Thanks for holding this contest. Please enter me. I read an advanced readers ebook copy of Undeniable Yours and was so happy to find it was part of a series! Becky, on another site you answered my question about the order of characters for the next books in the series. So excited to have a new series to read! I do also agree that the cover is great! I have read Submerged by Dani Pettrey, however, I haven't had the chance to read Shattered yet. That is another series I am going to make sure to read all of.

DeleteI enjoyed My Stubborn Heart very much, but I absolutely loved Undeniably Yours! I just finished it last week, and it is definitely one of my favorite books of the year so far! I especially loved the ending, Becky you made my suspense-loving side very, very happy! And the epilogue was so sweet it actually brought tears to my eyes! :)

Thank you, Caitlyn!! I truly appreciate your support. I'm really glad that you liked the suspenseful element in the closing chapters of Undeniably Yours. I had a ball writing them. Every now and then I like to throw a little suspense in the mix when the plot of a particular novel calls for it.
