Giveaway! Proof by Jordyn Redwood!!

Welcome to Writing for Christ Jordyn Redwood, it is great to have you here!

Do you have an interesting fact about yourself the average reader probably doesn’t know?

Jordyn: Casey, thanks so much for hosting me today! It’s so fun being here getting to know your readers.

I’m a fairly accomplished quilter. I have my own personal fabric stash and could easily make tons of quilts for the next several years without getting any more fabric but that doesn’t stop me from buying more. Fellow quilters... you know what I mean. In fact, a quilt was a clue in my debut novel.

Do you have a favorite genre to read/write?

Jordyn: I’m a suspense girl at heart. I read it and write it. Dean Koontz is the author I admire the most. Lately, I’ve also been pulled to dystopian youth novels—not sure yet if I would write this direction but I’m enjoying the discovery of a new set of authors.

Do you have a nugget of writing advice that has completely changed how you view writing?

Jordyn: There is a dark moment in the writing of every novel where you think you won’t be able to pull it off. I’ve hit it with each of my books and have heard this from many other authors. When you’re there... don’t panic. Keep writing. You can’t edit an empty page.

5 things you love?

1. My family.

2. Learning about God.

3. Chocolate.

4. Playing my guitar which I don’t get to do enough of.

5. Movies.

What do you enjoy most about being a published author?

Connecting with other people from agents, to publishers, fellow authors and readers. It just amazes me that I’ve been given the opportunity to have my words read by others. That’s a great honor.

Places for readers to learn more about you?
Jordyn: My medical blog for authors at www.redwoodsmedicaledge.com and my website www.jordynredwood.net.

Thank you for being with us today!
Jordyn: Thank you, Casey!

  25. Jordyn - sounds like an exciting read... and combining quilts with intrigue? Oh you are a wild woman!

You said: "There is a dark moment in the writing of every novel where you think you won’t be able to pull it off. I’ve hit it with each of my books and have heard this from many other authors. When you’re there... don’t panic. Keep writing. You can’t edit an empty page."

Those dark moments of doubt are the hardest part for me - thanks for the encouragement. And you're right about not being able to edit an empty page!

    1. Becky,

The quilts and intrigue are only the beginning of my wildness!

One of my favorite scenes in Proof is when Nathan and Brett, the lead detectives involved with Lilly's case, interview an elderly woman with questionable underwear choices who serves them tea laced with a lot of-- let's just say not sugar.

Glad I could encourage you to push through those dark writing times.

      Keep writing...

    2. Quilts AND underwear? AND curious condiments??? BE STILL my beating heart!

      Delete
    3. Becky,

Well, I wouldn't say those are in the same scene but Nathan and Brett do provide some comic relief, that's for sure. They are the odd couple. And the tea laced with .... again, can't say... is an experience from my high school years. My mother will probably kill me but too many Freddy Kruger movies and my bedroom being the only one in the basement led to a little insomnia-- and her cure made it's way into the book.

  27. i went to Jordyn's website (and then on to CBD) to find out more about the book. It sounds very good! There were endorsements from Lynette Eason, Harry Kraus, MD, and Richard L. Mabry,(among many others) who have all written suspenseful books that I enjoyed reading. I would love to win a copy of "Proof." Thanks for the chance.

  37. Hello, Casey and Jordyn,

What a lovely interview--short and to the point! I love your writing advice, Jordyn! It's so easy to stop and move onto something else until inspiration hits again. It's only by taking part in Candace Havens Fast Draft class that I learned how to write through the tough parts!

I only just found Jordyn on twitter and visited her medical blog, then followed the link here for the simple fact that it was entitled "Writing For Christ"! As a Christian who is totally in love with Christ, I just had to pop over and I'm glad I did because now I've found another great blog to follow.

    Hugs,
    Monique

  39. This book combines everything I love into one package. An amazing cover(because contrary to popular advice, I do tend to judge books by their cover!)medical elements within a suspense story, and it was written by a Christian author. This book is on my Amazon wish list! How could I not enter the drawing??

  40. I like to read several different genres. Suspense is one of them. This book looks worth more than a second look if for no other reason than the cover. This is an amazing cover.

Don't talk about fabric stashes. The last time we moved my stash had to come out of hiding. My husband wanted to know where all the fabric came from. I told him he really didn't want to know. Happy quilting!
