Book Review: Hearts Awakening

HEARTS AWAKENING is the perfect title for this novel. It fulfills its meaning to the utmost.

One woman desperate for refuge and a man in need of a helpmate for his boys. Could you imagine signing a contract for the job of marriage? That is exactly what happens when these characters enter into a loveless relationship.

I thought this a good story. There were moments of frustration when the hero flew into a temper without consulting the problem first, but in those moments true characterization was formed and the heroine’s stalwart strength kept me vested.

The intrigue that was woven through the novel kept me interested and wanting to know what would happen to the characters. Some of the different angles to the story haven’t been addressed often in that era and I enjoyed the glimpse this book gave. I admired the heroine for her resilience in the face of accusation. She was truly my favorite character and while growing herself, brought the family together.

The novel moved forward and kept me interested. I would have liked a faster pace and more romance, but all in all it kept me interested and I enjoyed the characters. The ending was all the novel promised and more without feeling rushed. An enjoyable book.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to Bethany House Publishers for my copy to review.

  1. Sounds like a great book! The ones where it's loveless before hand almost seem to be the most fun to read! I'll be looking in stores for this book!
