AMY INSPIRED is the story of a woman struggling to find her niche in the world. And when everyone around her is grounded, she drifts to find her landing place.
I thought the overall writing of this story was good. It drew me into the story, though did tend to be a bit verbose. Word pictures were in abundance and I thought the way the main character saw the world around her with a unique take. Humor was sprinkled throughout and I enjoyed the secondary characters that filled Amy’s life. They all had their own memorable personality.
Being a writing myself, I had sympathy for Amy’s lack of inspiration, but as the book progressed it became depressing. As she kept putting off her writing or struggling to think of something to write, I didn’t see determination, I saw the signs of giving up. The other aspect I wasn’t too thrilled about is for being a Christian fiction novel, there was not a lot of faith. It felt more tacked on than woven through the story, even if it was only supposed to be a fine thread.
I thought the ending was a great improvement from where the book started, and overall the story was well done, but it wasn’t my favorite for this year.
This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review.
