Giveaway and Author Interview: A Daughter for Christmas

Today I am hosting a giveaway with author Margaret Daley. Read to the end to find out how to enter!

Welcome back to Writing for Christ, I am excited to have you here for a second time.

What has changed in your writing life since you were last here?

I have sold eight books to be written in the next couple of years. Most of them are romantic suspense books but I do have a series for Love Inspired centered around a town rebuilding after a hurricane. I lived in Biloxi, which has gone through several major hurricanes over the years. I want to pay tribute to the people who rebuild after such a tragedy.

What recent read stood out to you as truly spectacular?

I read Carla Stewart’s Chasing Lilacs. It reminded me of the book I taught to my students—To Kill a Mockingbird. It was fabulous.

Do you have favorite authors?

My favorite writer is James Rollins. He writes suspenseful adventures.

What do you find the most enjoyable part of writing or connecting with readers?

I love hearing from readers and write back when I do. I hope my stories have entertained them and brought them some joy.

What do you find the most ideal atmosphere for writing? Do you ever get those surroundings?

I love writing in my office. It is decorated the way I like it. I have a couch I often write on using my laptop. I have hot pink walls and lots of flamingos around my office. I have a large window that overlooks my front yard with the gardens—especially a butterfly bush that attracts a lot of butterflies and hummingbirds.

Okay, something fun for those writers out there: In what point of your writing career did you surprise yourself by writing the most words ever in the shortest amount of time?

I’m what you would call a steady, plodding writer. I usually write every day a certain amount of words. I have rarely written over 3000 words in a day (15,000-16,000 in a week) and so far I haven’t had to.

Thanks for being here again! It has been a joy and we wish the very best with your novels.

Thank you for having me again, Casey. It’s always a joy.
